I can’t get my Android setup using the instructions
Android devices are all pretty different depending on the Make and Model. However the instructions below have worked for many users.
Android 2.3
- Go to Settings
- Go to Wireless and Networks
- Then Wi-Fi settings
- Menu > Advanced
- Use static IP
- Copy current IP address (few lines above) to IP address field
- Set Gateway as router IP (usually the same as current IP except last number is .1, i.e. if your phone IP 192.168.2.130 then router’s likely 192.168.2.1)
- Set Netmask 255.255.255.0 (sometimes it’s different, but you should already know what to do if it is)
- Set DNS 1 and DNS 2 fields as per table below:
- Primary DNS: 54.85.249.206
- Secondary DNS: 54.86.114.28
- Menu > “Save”
- Restart your phone (power cycle).
Android 4+
- Go to WiFi (click on word “WiFi”, not ON/OFF switch)
- Press and hold preferred (or active) wireless network until dialog pops up
- Select Modify Network
- Check Show advanced options checkbox at the bottom
- Switch IP settings“ to ”Static
- Keep IP address, Gateway and Network prefix length the same (should be set from standard DHCP)
- Set DNS 1 and DNS 2 fields as per DNS table as shown below:
- Primary DNS: 54.85.249.206
- Secondary DNS: 54.86.114.28
- Click Save
- Restart your phone (power cycle).
